What a Verify Now result means

4 min read Last updated 1 August 2026

Verify Now asks the other party whether they recognize a specific communication. Reading the result correctly matters, because it answers a narrower question than people expect.

What Verify Now actually asks

It asks one question: does this person or business recognize this particular communication? It is not a general character reference and not a permanent status.

Confirmed

The recipient said they recognize the interaction described in your request. This is good evidence that the communication is genuine.

It applies only to the interaction you described. A confirmation today says nothing about a different message tomorrow.

Not recognized

The recipient said they do not recognize it. Treat this seriously.

Do not act on the communication until you have confirmed it another way, by contacting the business on a number or address you found independently, not one supplied in the message you are checking.

Possible impersonation reported

The recipient did not recognize it and reported a concern. Until you have independently confirmed the communication:

  • Do not send money
  • Do not share passwords or access codes
  • Contact the person or business using details you sourced yourself
  • Keep a copy of the communication

No response

A request can expire without an answer. No response is not a decline. People miss messages, and an unanswered request means only that. It is not evidence either way.

No VERIFIED match

If a search returns no match, it means that person or business has not joined VERIFIED. It does not mean they are fraudulent. Plenty of legitimate businesses are not yet on the platform.

About credits

Sending a verification request uses credits. Responding to one never does. The person answering is doing you a favour, and charging them would be wrong. If credits were deducted and you did not expect it, contact Support and we will look at the transaction.
