PRIVACY
Privacy Policy
VERIFIED exists to help people know who they are dealing with. That only works if we handle your information carefully, and if we are honest about what we collect, what we show other people, and what we keep.
Who we are
VERIFIED is operated by Verified Platforms, Inc. When this policy says “we” or “VERIFIED”, it means that company. If you want to reach us about anything in this policy, use Contact support.
The short version
- We collect what we need to confirm identities and to run your account. Not more.
- Identity documents and verification evidence are never shown publicly, and never shown to a business that asks about you.
- You choose what appears on your public profile, and you can change it at any time.
- Confirming something proves it was true at the time of the check. We say so rather than implying more.
- Connecting an account on another network is optional. We use it to confirm the account is yours, and to do only what you ask with it.
- You can ask us to delete your data at Delete your VERIFIED data.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: the email address you use to sign in, and your name where you provide it.
- Profile details: what you choose to put on a Personal or Business Profile, such as a display name, role or description.
- Identifiers: email addresses, phone numbers, domains and websites you connect to a profile.
- Business information: company details where you create or claim a Business Profile.
- Support messages: what you tell us when you contact us.
Information from verifying you
When you verify your identity, our verification provider collects identity document images and a selfie in order to check them. We receive the outcome of that check and a reference number. We do not store your document images, document numbers or biometric data on VERIFIED.
Information we generate
- Confirmation records: that an identifier was confirmed, when, and by what method.
- Activity records: verification requests you send or receive, and their outcomes.
- Security records: sign-in events, impersonation reports, and similar, kept so we can protect accounts.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, usually stored in hashed form.
What we do with it
- Run your account and let you sign in
- Confirm identifiers and identities
- Show the public information you have chosen to publish
- Answer verification requests about you, according to your settings
- Detect and prevent impersonation, fraud and abuse
- Provide support
- Meet legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your identity verification data for advertising or profiling.
What other people can see
This is the part worth reading closely, because VERIFIED is a public trust product.
- Your public profile shows only what you have chosen to publish.
- Identifiers can be public, masked, or private. Masked is the default for personal contact details, so someone can recognise a number without seeing it in full.
- Searchability is separate from visibility. An identifier can be confirmed and private, and still not be usable to find you, depending on your settings.
- Verification results tell the person asking only what they need: whether a specific thing is confirmed. They never receive your documents, your evidence, or the contents of your account.
- Relationships appear on a business profile only where the business has chosen to show them, and on your personal profile only where you have chosen to show them.
Public profile information may be visible to search engines and may be copied by others once public. Consider that before publishing something.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers who help us operate VERIFIED: identity verification, message and email delivery, payments and hosting. They may only use it to provide that service to us.
- People asking about you, and only the confirmation result described above.
- Networks you connect, only what is needed to do what you ask, such as publishing a post you asked us to publish.
- Authorities, where the law requires it or where it is necessary to prevent serious harm.
Some providers are located outside your country, so your information may be transferred internationally. We use providers who commit to appropriate protections.
Connected accounts
You can connect accounts you hold on other networks (LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook Pages and Instagram professional accounts) to show that they are yours. Connecting is optional, and you choose which accounts to connect.
What we receive
When you connect an account, you sign in to that network and approve the access it lists. We never see your password for that network. Depending on the network and what you approve, we receive:
- Account details: the account’s ID, name, username or handle, profile link and profile picture.
- Audience figures: public counts such as followers or subscribers.
- Analytics: performance figures for your own account, where the network provides them and you have approved it.
- Posts you publish through VERIFIED: if you choose to publish, the post and whether it succeeded.
What we use it for
- Confirming that you control the account, and showing it as confirmed on your profile if you choose to.
- Telling services you use with VERIFIED, such as Media.com, that the account is yours, only with your permission.
- Publishing to the account, only when you ask us to.
- Showing you your own analytics.
We do not use information from connected accounts for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to profile you or anyone else. We only access your own account, never other people’s.
Google and YouTube
VERIFIED’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Our YouTube access is read-only: we never upload, change or delete anything on your channel. By connecting a YouTube channel you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can remove VERIFIED’s access at any time in your Google Account permissions.
Facebook and Instagram
If you remove VERIFIED from your Facebook or Instagram settings, Meta tells us and we end the connection and delete our access tokens. If you ask Meta to delete your data, we also delete the profile details we received from that account. You can ask us directly too, at Delete your VERIFIED data.
Removing a connected account
- Tokens that let us act for you are stored encrypted and used only for the access you approved.
- Remove a connected account from your Dashboard at any time. We revoke our access at the network, delete the tokens, and stop showing the account as confirmed. As with other confirmations, we keep a record that it was once connected and confirmed.
- Removing access in the network’s own settings stops our access from working, and we can no longer fetch anything from that account.
How long we keep it
- Account and profile data: while your account is open.
- Confirmation records: kept as history, because a verification result needs to remain auditable after it stops being current.
- Financial records: for the period tax and accounting law requires.
- Security and impersonation records: kept for as long as needed to protect people, so that deleting an account cannot erase evidence of harm to someone else.
- Support messages: for a reasonable period after the case closes.
Your choices
- See and correct your information from your Dashboard.
- Change what is public at any time, per identifier and per relationship.
- Remove an identifier you no longer want connected.
- Delete your data: request it at Delete your VERIFIED data. We explain there what we can and cannot delete.
- Object or complain: contact us, and if you are unsatisfied you may complain to your local data protection authority.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including access, portability and restriction of processing. We honour these regardless of where you are.
Security
Sensitive values such as identifiers are encrypted, and duplicate matching uses irreversible hashes rather than stored copies. Access to production data is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary to sign you in and keep your session secure, and a small number that help us understand how the product is used. We do not use advertising cookies.
Children
VERIFIED is not intended for people under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect, by email or in the product, rather than quietly updating this page.
