Trust & Safety

Trust & Safety

Trust starts with clear, accountable information.

VERIFIED helps individuals and businesses confirm identities, identifiers and relationships while protecting privacy, preventing misuse and giving users clear ways to report concerns.

Safety is built into how VERIFIED works.

VERIFIED is designed around evidence, consent, privacy and accountability. Important actions, such as connecting an identifier, confirming a relationship or responding to a verification request, must be linked to an authenticated account and recorded securely.

No single feature can eliminate online risk. VERIFIED combines verification tools, privacy controls, abuse prevention and reporting systems to help users better understand who they are dealing with.

Verification based on evidence

Identities, businesses, identifiers and relationships must be supported by an approved verification or confirmation process.

User-controlled privacy

Users decide whether eligible information is public, private and requestable, or hidden.

Accountable interactions

Verification requests, invitations, confirmations and reports are linked to authenticated accounts and recorded.

Clear limitations

VERIFIED explains what has been confirmed without suggesting that every transaction or interaction is risk-free.

What a VERIFIED result can mean

The meaning of a VERIFIED result depends on the information displayed and the type of verification completed.

Identity verified

The person completed the identity-verification process shown on their profile.

Business verified

The business information shown was checked through the applicable business-verification process.

Identifier verified

The user demonstrated control of the email address, phone number, domain, account or other identifier through the method shown.

Affiliation verified

The relevant individual, business or authorized administrator confirmed the relationship displayed.

Request confirmed

The registered owner responded to a specific verification request and confirmed the information shown.

Point-in-time confirmation

The result records that a confirmation took place at the displayed date and time.

Verification provides information, not a guarantee.

A VERIFIED result does not automatically guarantee that:

  • A person will act honestly
  • A transaction is legitimate
  • Goods or services will be delivered
  • Funds can be recovered
  • A business is financially sound
  • A person has authority beyond the relationship shown
  • An identifier will remain under the same control indefinitely
  • Information outside VERIFIED is genuine
  • An interaction is free from all risk

Consider the context, review the information shown and use appropriate independent precautions before proceeding. VERIFIED helps users make more informed decisions. It does not make those decisions for them.

Private does not mean exposed.

Users can register an identifier with VERIFIED without publicly linking it to their identity. When an exact private identifier is searched, VERIFIED may allow an eligible account holder to send a verification request. The owner’s identity remains private unless they choose to respond and disclose permitted information.

Public

The information may appear on the public VERIFIED profile or in permitted search results.

Private and requestable

The information is not publicly connected to the owner, but eligible users may request confirmation.

Hidden

The information is not available through the ordinary search and verification-request workflow.

Responding to a request does not automatically make an identifier public.

The registered owner can:

  • Confirm control only
  • Confirm identity
  • Confirm a verified business relationship
  • Decline
  • Mark the request as unrecognized
  • Report the request
  • Block future requests from the requester

Search without unnecessary exposure.

VERIFIED limits how private identifiers can be discovered and displayed.

Exact-match searches

Private identifiers are only found through a complete and securely normalized search.

No autocomplete exposure

Private identifiers do not appear through autocomplete, partial matches or related suggestions.

Masked information

Sensitive identifiers are masked where full display is unnecessary.

Protected result pages

Private search-result pages are not intended to be publicly indexed or shared.

Limits and monitoring

VERIFIED applies limits and monitoring to reduce automated searching, scraping and identifier enumeration.

Account requirements

Some searches and verification requests require login, identity verification or an account in good standing.

Verification requests are controlled and accountable.

A verification request allows one user to ask the registered owner of an identifier to confirm information. It does not automatically disclose the owner’s identity.

The requester may need to provide

  • Their VERIFIED identity
  • A legitimate reason
  • The claimed identity or business
  • Optional contextual information
  • One verification credit

The recipient can review

  • Who sent the request
  • Why it was sent
  • Which identifier is involved
  • What the requester says the interaction relates to
  • What information would be shared if confirmed

Abuse safeguards

  • Duplicate-request prevention
  • Daily and monthly limits
  • Cooling-off periods
  • Blocking and reporting
  • Suspicious-pattern detection
  • Stronger requirements for sensitive identifiers
  • Manual review where required

VERIFIED may restrict or suspend request privileges where the feature is misused.

Invitations are for genuine relationships, not unsolicited marketing.

VERIFIED allows individuals and businesses to invite people they know, work with or have a legitimate reason to verify.

Permitted

  • Inviting a colleague
  • Inviting an employee
  • Inviting a contractor
  • Inviting a customer to complete a requested verification
  • Inviting a counterparty before a transaction

  • Cold marketing campaigns
  • Repeated invitations after opt-out

  • Attempts to obtain passwords or payment codes

Protecting the integrity of VERIFIED records.

VERIFIED uses verification, reverification and dispute processes to help maintain accurate records.

Duplicate identities

The platform may detect and review attempts to create multiple accounts for the same identity.

Identifier ownership changes

Phone numbers, email addresses, domains and other identifiers can change control. VERIFIED may require periodic reverification.

Business record disputes

Businesses can report incorrect profiles, unauthorized claims or false representative relationships.

Affiliation changes

Businesses can revoke former staff or representative relationships without removing the individual’s identity.

Suspended information

Information under dispute or security review may be temporarily restricted while it is investigated.

Audit history

Important verification and administrative actions are recorded to support accountability.

Misuse is not permitted on VERIFIED.

Users must not use VERIFIED to:

  • Impersonate another person or business
  • Misrepresent a relationship or authority
  • Harass or threaten another user
  • Repeatedly contact someone after a decline or block
  • Scrape or enumerate private identifiers
  • Send unsolicited commercial invitations
  • Obtain private information under false pretences
  • Create fraudulent verification requests
  • Manipulate verification evidence
  • Share deceptive or malicious links
  • Circumvent account restrictions
  • Create duplicate accounts to obtain credits or evade enforcement
  • Use VERIFIED for unlawful discrimination or surveillance
  • Misuse business administration tools
  • Falsely represent that VERIFIED guarantees a transaction

Depending on the circumstances, VERIFIED may limit functionality, suspend an account, remove information, revoke verification status, preserve evidence or refer matters to appropriate authorities. See the Terms of Use for the governing rules.

What happens when you report something

  1. 1

    Report received

VERIFIED records the report and provides a reference where appropriate.

  2. 2

    Initial assessment

The report is reviewed for urgency, relevance and available evidence.

  3. 3

    Investigation

VERIFIED may review account activity, verification records, request history and information supplied by the parties.

  4. 4

    Action or resolution

Depending on the outcome, VERIFIED may correct information, restrict activity, request reverification, suspend an account or take no action where the report is not substantiated.

Urgent security and impersonation reports are prioritized. VERIFIED may not be able to disclose all investigation details or actions taken because of privacy, safety or legal obligations.

Simple steps to protect yourself

Search exact information

Search the complete email, phone number, domain or other identifier where possible.

Check the result scope

Review exactly what VERIFIED has confirmed and when it was last verified.

Request fresh confirmation

Where the information is private or the interaction is sensitive, ask the registered owner to respond.

Be cautious about changed bank details

Independently verify unexpected bank-account or payment changes before transferring funds.

Protect authentication codes

Never share passwords, one-time codes, recovery codes or security answers through a verification request.

Review claimed relationships

Confirm that the person’s connection to a business matches the role or authority being claimed.

Pause when something does not match

A mismatch, decline or unrecognized request is not proof of wrongdoing, but it is a reason to review the interaction before proceeding.

Report impersonation quickly

If someone is pretending to be you, submit an impersonation report and review your account security.

Protect your business and customers

Claim and verify your profile

Establish an official VERIFIED business presence before someone else attempts to misrepresent the organization.

Connect official identifiers

Verify the domains, email addresses, phone numbers, social accounts and bank details used by the business.

Confirm representatives

Establish verified relationships with genuine employees, directors, contractors and authorized representatives.

Remove former representatives promptly

Revoke relationships and access when someone leaves or changes roles.

Use business-sponsored verification

Pay for customer, staff or supplier verification where the business benefits from the check.

Monitor important identifiers

Review changes, reverification requirements and suspicious activity involving business information.

Train staff

Ensure employees understand how VERIFIED requests, invitations and confirmations should be used.

Report impersonation

Report false business profiles, unauthorized representatives and misuse of the organization’s identifiers.

Protect your VERIFIED account

Most account compromise starts outside VERIFIED, with the email or phone account connected to it. These steps make that harder.

  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Enable two-factor authentication
  • Protect email and phone accounts connected to VERIFIED
  • Do not share authentication codes
  • Review active sessions
  • Sign out from shared devices
  • Keep recovery information current
  • Review unexpected account notifications
  • Report suspected compromise promptly
  • Reverify identifiers when requested

Our trust and safety principles

1

Evidence over assumption

VERIFIED communicates what has been checked, and does not infer more than the evidence supports.

2

Privacy by design

Users control what others can see and what they choose to confirm.

3

Neutrality

Paid plans do not purchase a favorable verification outcome.

4

Accountability

Important actions are linked to authenticated accounts and recorded.

5

Proportionate action

Safety responses reflect the nature, severity and available evidence of the issue.

6

Accessible participation

People can receive, respond to and report verification activity without payment barriers.

Is someone in immediate danger?

VERIFIED is not an emergency service. If you or another person is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency services in your location.

If you believe money has just been transferred as part of a scam or fraud, contact your bank or payment provider immediately and follow the reporting guidance available in your country.

Frequently asked questions

Does a VERIFIED result mean a person is trustworthy?

No. VERIFIED may confirm factual information such as identity, identifier control or a business relationship. It does not guarantee future conduct or that a transaction is risk-free.

Can someone find my identity by searching a private identifier?

A private identifier is not publicly connected to your identity. Eligible users may be able to request confirmation, but you remain in control of whether you respond and what permitted information is shared.

Can I decline a verification request?

Yes. You can confirm, decline, mark the request as unrecognized, report it or block future requests from the requester.

What should I do if someone is impersonating me?

Submit an impersonation report, review the identifiers connected to your account and secure any affected email, phone or social accounts.

Can businesses remove former employees?

Businesses can revoke a relationship when a person leaves or is no longer authorized. This does not delete the person's individual VERIFIED identity.

Does VERIFIED guarantee a bank account is safe to pay?

No. VERIFIED may confirm control of payment information at a particular time, but it does not guarantee the legitimacy of the broader transaction or recoverability of funds.

Can someone send unlimited verification requests?

No. VERIFIED applies eligibility rules, limits, duplicate controls and abuse monitoring.

Are invitations marketing messages?

VERIFIED invitations are intended for genuine identity, relationship and counterparty purposes. The platform must not be used for unsolicited mass marketing.

What happens after I report someone?

VERIFIED reviews the available information and may request further evidence. The outcome depends on the circumstances, and some details may remain confidential.

Can a paid user obtain a better verification result?

No. Verification status depends on the checks completed, not the plan purchased.

Verify before you proceed

A clearer decision starts with better information.

Search the person, business or identifier you are dealing with, or report anything that appears incorrect, suspicious or misleading.
