How it works

Before you trust, use VERIFIED.

Scammers can impersonate people, businesses and even people you know. VERIFIED lets you check identities, contact details, payment details and websites, and request real-time identity confirmation from the person you’re dealing with.

01 / Find

Start with a name, number or link.

Search for a person, business, email address, phone number, website or other identifier. See what’s available on VERIFIED and choose what you want to check.

02 / Request

Ask them to confirm.

Need to know if you’re speaking to the right person? Send a verification request through VERIFIED. The recipient decides whether to respond and what information to share.

  • Request identity confirmationAsk a VERIFIED person or organization to confirm it’s them.
  • Verify a contact detailCheck that an email address or phone number belongs to the identity you expect.
  • Invite them to get VERIFIEDAsk someone without a VERIFIED identity to create and verify one.
  • Use VERIFIED LiveConfirm identity in real time with a six-digit code.

If a detail is private, VERIFIED never tells you whether it’s registered.

03 / Confirm

They confirm it’s really them.

The recipient responds through VERIFIED and completes the relevant verification step. Depending on what’s being checked, this may involve a one-time code, account authorization or another method of confirming control.

Live codes last five minutes and work once. A Live confirmation shows which VERIFIED identity responded. On its own, it doesn’t prove authority to act for an organization or ownership of other details.

04 / Know

See what’s confirmed.

VERIFIED shows what could be confirmed, what differs and what remains unresolved, so you have better information before taking the next step.

Verification helps establish facts. It doesn’t guarantee someone’s intentions or future conduct.

How details are verified

Different details. Different checks.

An email address, phone number, website and bank account can’t all be verified the same way. VERIFIED uses checks appropriate to each type of information.

  • Identity

Establish who a person or organization is.

People complete an ID document and selfie check. Organizations are checked against business records and reviewed.
  • Email

Confirm access to an email address.

A six-digit code is sent to the address.
  • Phone

Confirm access to a phone number.

A one-time code by SMS, or by voice call for landlines.
  • Website & domain

Confirm control of a website domain.

Using a DNS record, a meta tag or a file on the site.
  • Social profiles

Confirm control of a supported social account.

The owner signs in to the network to connect it. Support varies by network.
  • Bank details

Check payment details before you pay.

Compared with details published by a VERIFIED identity. If they don’t match, you can ask the owner to confirm.
  • Crypto wallets

Confirm control of a supported wallet.

The owner signs a single-use message. VERIFIED never asks for keys or a transfer.
  • Affiliations

See whether a connection to an organization is confirmed.

A claimed role is shown separately from confirmed authority to represent the organization.
